The Model School scheme aims to provide quality education to talented rural children through setting up of 6,000 model schools at the rate of one school per block as benchmark of excellence. The scheme has the following objectives:
• To have at least one good quality senior secondary school in every block.
• To have a pace setting role
• To try out innovative curriculum and pedagogy
• To be a model in infrastructure, curriculum, evaluation and school governance
The scheme envisages setting up of (i) 3,500 schools in as many educationally backward blocks (EBBs) through State/UT Governments, and (ii) remaining 2,500 schools under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode in blocks which are not educationally backward.

संचालित होंगे स्कूल
लखनऊ। सूबे में केंद्रीय विद्यालय की तर्ज पर खुले 148 मॉडल स्कूलों में 2600
कर्मियों की भर्ती की कवायद सरकार ने तेज कर दी है। प्रदेश के पिछड़े ब्लॉक में संचालित इन स्कूलों में 148 प्रधानाचार्य, 740 प्रवक्ता, 1036 सहायक अध्यापक, 148 कनिष्ठ लिपिकों की भर्ती होगी।
माध्यमिक शिक्षा विभाग ने भर्ती का शासनादेश जारी कर दिया है। चतुर्थ
श्रेणी कर्मियों की तैनाती सेवा प्रदाता के माध्यम से होगी।
मॉडल स्कूल के लिए 1 प्रिंसिपल, 5 प्रवक्ता, 7 सहायक अध्यापक, 1 कनिष्ठ लिपिक और सेवा प्रदाता के माध्यम हर स्कूल के लिए 4 चतुर्थ श्रेणी कर्मियों की भर्ती का प्रस्ताव शामिल था। शासन ने भेजे गए सभी प्रस्तावों पर हरी झंडी दे दी है।
इनमें कक्षा 6 से लेकर 12वीं तक अंग्रेजी माध्यम से पढ़ाई की सुविधा उपलब्ध
होगी। केंद्र के निर्देश पर प्रदेश सरकार ने सूबे के कुल 680 पिछड़े ब्लॉक में यह स्कूल खोलने का प्रस्ताव भेजा था। लेकिन वित्तीय वर्ष 2011-12 में 148 व वित्तीय वर्ष 2012-13 में 45 स्कूल खोलने की मंजूरी दी।
